You might be asking yourself if your child needs supportive orthotics, and the answer is yes! All children are born without arches, which makes over-pronation the norm in kids under four years of age. While your kids' gait cycle is still developing during this time, an orthotic can make a big difference to the anatomy of a developing child.

Our semi-rigid Kiddythotics fit right into your toddler's shoes to provide additional stability while they're still developing their arches. This type of arch support is great for kids because it helps the joints in the foot to align properly during the gait cycle, which causes the forces created by walking and running to be transferred safely and effectively though the structures of the lower extremity.

We also carry the same semi-rigid children's foot alignment orthotics for kids who are over four. If your child still experiences some instability later in life, these orthotics will help align your child's muscles and bones and are intended to prevent the type of longterm damage that will result in the need for a corrective orthotic insole into adulthood.

Finally, our Kid Os orthotics are perfect for children who express excessive pronation from flat feet after the toddler years. These pediatric stabilizing orthotics are great for older kids with flat feet and collapsing arches, who experience pain and instability when walking and running. These orthotics fully cup the heel in order to keep the foot in an optimally aligned position and act similarly to professional UCBLs.

Improper footwear, especially when worn consistently through ages of crucial physical development can actually cause damage to the bone structures and ligaments of the feet, resulting in the need for a corrective orthotic insole. The word "orthotic" implies some type of brace. While walking and running, the entire weight of your body is transferred through the bones, ligaments and muscles of the feet and ankles in a process called the "gait" cycle. This is where repetitive incorrect alignment can cause long term damage, and where a simple supportive orthotic could help prevent said damage.

To get children accustomed to wearing orthotics, start with just one hour of wear time before assessing the foot again. While some red marks, particularly in the arches, may be present, these should fade quickly and not result in blistering or bruising. Finding the correct orthotics for your child can be as easy as purchasing by shoe size.
